Property Tax

The Texas Tax Code represents the main legal document regarding taxation in the State of Texas. Property taxes are determined at local levels, being used for paying for services such as schools, hospitals, colleges and others.

Market Value

The Johnson Central Appraisal District determines the appraised values, also known as market values, for all taxable real property in Johnson County. Market value has been defined by The Supreme Court as the sale price of real estate as agreed upon between a willing buyer and willing seller, with neither being under duress to buy or sell. Properties are reappraised at least once every three years, but they can be reappraised as often as every year if the market is active in that area.

Land homesite value $154,500
Improvement value + $87,716
Market value = $242,216

Appraised Value

One of the steps in the process of calculating taxes is determining the property's appraised value. This is determined by subtracting the homestead cap loss or/and agricultural production loss values, if there is any, from the total market value.

Market value $242,216
Appraised value = $242,216

Exemptions and Taxable Value

The Johnson County offers taxpayers several types of exemptions, including homestead exemptions, over 65, disability and veteran exemptions. These are deducted from the appraised value to give the property's taxable value. At the time being we do not have information regarding exemptions for this property therefore the taxable value is equal to the appraised value.

Taxable value = $242,216
