Well, it\u2019s what came out of a special request from the Gothamist editorial team, who wanted to see which <a href=\"http:\/\/gothamist.com\/2013\/08\/20\/affordability_map.php\">neighborhoods are gentrifying the fastest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">By measuring the median home sale price in each census tract, divided by the median household income, the map highlights which neighborhoods in the city&#8217;s five boroughs are the most expensive, in areas where most people aren\u2019t currently earning that much.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Take a look at our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propertyshark.com\/mason\/ny\/New-York-City\/Maps\/Median-Sale-Price-Per-Household-Income\">dynamic map<\/a>, and search for the dark purple markings\u2014that highlight neighborhoods like East Williamsburg where homeowners are paying high prices for their units, despite the fact that most people in the neighborhood are not what you would call top
