Brooklyn’s\u00a0seemingly never-ending price hikes held course in 2016, particularly in the second half of the year, when the median sale price across all residential properties in the borough hit $650,000. Looking back, several\u00a0homes in the borough were worth a whole lot of money last year, with some condos and townhouses in\u00a0northwestern neighborhoods\u00a0selling at prices one would expect to see in Manhattan, rather than any of the surrounding boroughs.<\/p>\n

At the highest end of the market, 7 of the 10 most expensive sales in 2016\u00a0were closed on properties in Brooklyn Heights, while two others were in DUMBO and Park Slope. However, #1 was a surprisingly pricey two-family home in Gravesend that sold for over $11 million<\/strong> – the only property on the list to be located in a lesser-known neighborhood.<\/p>\n

Penthouse E at the show-stopping 1 John Street<\/a> sold back in October for a little over $8 million, making it the 3rd priciest\u00a0home on our list. The high-profile development in DUMBO now only has \u00a01\u00a0for sale\u00a0<\/em>unit left unoccupied.<\/p>\n

In sixth\u00a0place, an unfinished long-time family project in\u00a0Park Slope\u00a0changed owners after 15 years of construction work. The massive modernist mansion at 277 First Street sold for $7.5 million in November after being listed for a whopping $11.5 million back in 2015<\/a>.<\/p>\n
