It might have come as a surprise<\/a> to some people that, according to our latest report, the priciest block in Queens was located in Belle Harbor\/Neponsit (see interactive map<\/a>). The median sale price on the beach front block located between Beach 145 Street and Beach 146 Street was $2.5M.<\/p>\n

As reported by the New York Times<\/a>, this community is\u00a0defined by a \u201chigh quality of life and locals that cherish its residential nature, which lends its beaches an air of exclusivity\u201d.\u00a0Street parking in the area is banned during the summer, so\u00a0owners of beachfront houses routinely make their driveways available to neighbors.\u00a0According to the same article, \u00a0\u201cproximity to the beach has everything to do with real estate: walking north to south, a visitor may notice that the louder the waves, the grander the houses become.\u201d<\/p>\n

The next three spots in the top were taken by blocks in Forest Hills<\/a>, a community\u00a0well known for\u00a0pricey homes<\/a> and upper class residents.\u00a0Here prices ranged from $1.66M to $1.35M.\u00a0The most expensive sale on these blocks was the single family home at 98 Ascan Avenue<\/a>, sold for $1.7M.<\/p>\n

Other areas represented on the list of pricey blocks included Douglaston, Oakland Gardens and Jamaica Estates.\u00a0As can be seen on the map<\/a>, blocks in Withestone and Murray Hill also had a high price value<\/strong>, while the blocks in southeast Queens, Jamaica, St. Albans and Cambria Heights had lower values.<\/strong><\/p>\n
