Building Description

Built in 1988 Shearson-Lehman Plaza is a 496-foot, 38-story located in TriBeCa. Originally known as Shearson-Lehman Plaza, it has since had its name changed to the Travelers Building. In addition to traditional office space it contains an outdoor park, daycare center, dining facilities, a medical center, and a conference center.

During the tragic events of September 11, 2001, it was used as a triage center for victims of the World Trade Center attacks; the building is located 10 blocks north of the original WTC site. It also boasts double-deck lift elevators, one of only a few buildings in New York City with this feature. The property overlooks the Hudson River and the Hudson River Greenway to the west, with Piers 25 and 26 prominently located. The TriBeCa Performing Arts Center and the Borough of Manhattan Community College are located due south. With the riverfront property in high demand, plenty of restaurants populate the area.

Alternate Addresses
