Now a co-op with a few remaining hotel rooms, it opened as the world's largest apartment complex in 1927.
Its lobby was modeled after the library at the Vatican and its rooms feature L'Occitane toiletries, privies by Laurent D, and flat-panel LCD televisions. White-gloved elevator attendants bring an air of yester-year, and the full concierge service includes exclusive seating to area theater and professional sports tickets. In-room massage therapy services are available in all of the 50 guest rooms, many of which possess unobstructed views of Central Park. In 1981, it was officially designated a New York City landmark. The zoned school PS 183 is just a few block away, and residents can catch the N, Q and R lines right across the street at Grand Army Plaza.
