Building Description

The Ocean Towers at 2950 West 24 Street in Coney Island were constructed in 1972 using federal dollars provided by New York City's Mitchell-Lama Housing Program. The property was seriously damaged by Superstorm Sandy in 2012, and the Community Development Trust, in concert with Proto Property Services, acquired the apartment building. The subsequent makeover of the 19-story tower was the private real estate investment trust's first project in New York City. The $50 million renovation brought significant upgrades in both the 360 apartments and the common areas.

Ocean Towers is one block from the Atlantic Ocean and Coney Island beaches, and less than two blocks from Kaiser Park. Part of School District 21, 2950 West 24 Street is zoned for P.S. 288, I.S. 96 and Abraham Lincoln High School. Additional area schools include The Brooklyn School of Inquiry, Coney Island Preparatory Charter School, I.S. 239, Yeshivat Magen Abraham, and Liberation Diploma Plus High School. The nearest subway station serves the D, F, N and Q lines half a mile away at Stillwell and Surf Avenue, and bus service is steps away, including the B36, X28 and X38 lines.
