Building Description

The Olcott Hotel at 27 West 72nd Street has been a staple of the Upper West Side since 1925. Prolific New York apartment architect George F. Pelham employed a Georgian Revival style for the 16-story mid-block tower. The lower three stories are executed in rusticated stone, and the upper stories are highlighted by a decorative cornice. The Olcott spent its first 75 years as a composite of rental apartments, professional suites, and commercial space. In 2005 the building was converted into 162 condominium apartments. In the process, the elegant entrance lobby was restored to its original grand style.

The residential tower blends old world touches and modern appointments with oak floors and generous amounts of marble. Residents enjoy access to a private dining lounge, fitness center, children's playroom, bike room, and cold storage. The Olcott is fully staffed with a garage attendant, live-in superintendent, full-time doorman, and concierge. Central Park is half a block away, just beyond the Olcott's famous neighbor, The Dakota. The nearest subway station to 27 West 72nd Street is half-a-block away.
