Building Description
229 W 43rd Street is actually now the former New York Times Building. It was first dubbed The New York Times Annex when it was first used to expand the paper's facilities from 1 Times Square. It housed the New York Times operations between 1913 and 2007. This slice of Manhattan real estate is also unique in being an office condo, and having a notable French Chateau style architecture. This property was initially designed by Buchman & Fox, and subsequently extended by Ludlow & Peabody and Albert Kahn.
The ultra-central location of this commercial building makes for an outstanding variety of lunch and dinner options, including the ridiculously famous Hard Rock Cafe. After-hours entertainment some of the best selections of theatres in the world, while the commute may be crazy busy, yet very well connected. There's the 42nd St. station for subway lines 1, 2, and 3, and the Port Authority Bus Terminal for lines A, C, and E, and just around the corner, the 7th Ave bus stop for BxM2, M7, M20, and M104 buses.
