Building Description

The former Gorham Building, originally home to Gorham Silver Manufacturing Company and a New York City Landmark since 1906, sits on the corner of West 36th Street and Fifth Avenue near Koreatown. Across the street from the original building that housed Tiffany & Co. jewelers, the Gorham Building is part of a legacy of luxury and wealth so apparent during the early twentieth century. With 133,544 square feet of office and retail space, the 8-story structure is a fine example of Italian Renaissance architecture.

Several balconies of bronze climb the facade of the building, as well as decorative limestone friezes that recall the city's distant past. The unique cornice roof is made of copper, which makes it stand out from the plain buildings directly surrounding it. Just blocks from subway lines B, D, F, M, N, Q, and R, upscale retail on Fifth Avenue, and plenty of mixed dining and high-end bars, this location also has the bonus of being two short blocks away from the Empire State Building, should some out-of-town business partners come to visit.
