Building Description

Topping out at a height of more than 1,000 feet, One57 finished construction in 2014. One57 features 92 condominium units atop a 210-room Hyatt Hotel. It battled a pair of near-disasters to reach completion - a crane partially collapsed during Hurricane Sandy in 2012 and a fire broke out in a loading dock and the courtyard in 2014. French architect Christian de Portzamparc designed the property, using alternating dark and light glass to give the illusion of vertical stripes on the building. The units feature high ceilings ranging from 11 feet up to 23 feet, a security intercom system featuring video components, and hand-crafted cabinets in the kitchen, along with sub-zero wine coolers.

The amenities are many and marvelous, including a library with a 24-foot aquarium, a triple-height indoor pool, a health club complete with spa, steam rooms, and a yoga studio. The neighborhood, which includes Central Park just one block north, offers a tremendous amount of business diversity, particularly in restaurants, within walking distance. P.S. 35 is located one-half mile way, and several subway lines converge at nearby Columbus Circle.
