Building Description

Essex House is one of New York City's most recognizable hotels and residences. The 43 story Art Deco tower was converted in 1974 by Marriott, becoming the first condo hotel in New York City. The rooftop Essex House sign is a NYC icon which has been featured in many works of art including the animated film Madagascar. Being the prime and famous building that it is, Essex House has changed hands between the most high profile investment firms and corporations many times, and it's also known as the JW Marriott Essex House. The development holds 509 condos and hotel rooms ranging from studios to 3 bedroom units.

This envied location puts guests right across from Central Park and just blocks from Columbus Circle, Carnegie Hall, Avenue of the Americas, and the Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue. Shopping, dining, and nights out in New York have never been as convenient as they are for those staying and living here. M5 and M7 bus stations are found at the end of the block in either direction, with just 2 blocks to the N, Q, and R trains at 7th Ave. and 57th St. PS 111 is relatively close and two private options are available a mere block away from the building.
