Building Description
Named for the famed sculptor who died the year it was built in 1917, the landmark Rodin Studios Building was originally designed to house artists within its 124,782 square feet. It has since been redesigned with the needs of the modern office in mind. The 16-story building is located in the Theatre District and Times Square, just across the street from Carnegie Hall, and is now suited for office and retail space.
With north-facing windows that provide light throughout the building - a necessity for early twentieth-century artists - the structure's Gothic and French Renaissance exterior design consists of brick and terra cotta. Much of the terra cotta has been replaced or repaired in recent years. Little details make the building interesting, like the stone grotesques hanging from some of the canopies. Aside from the visual aspects of the building, it is also conveniently placed near retail and dining options. Subway lines N, Q, and R are literally right outside the building, at 7th Avenue & 57th Street Station.
