Building Description

Designated as a Historic Landmark by the City of New York in 2006, the Morse Building co-op is a fascinating mix of architecture of three very different era: the 1870s, 1900s, and 1960s. Located in the Financial District just south of City Hall Park, it was once the tallest building in the city, the brainchild of G. Livingston Morse and Sidney E. Morse, both nephews of legendary inventor Samuel Morse. In its 100th year of existence, the Morse Building was converted to residential apartments. Its 14-floor layout contains 39 apartments and the building is pet-friendly and features an elevator for residents.

Wall Street beckons just half a mile away for the business minded, and the building is surrounded by commerce and culture on all sides, with City Hall, the Anne Frank Center, St. Paul's Chapel, the Saint Peter Roman Catholic Church, and the Woolworth Building all just a few blocks away. 8 different subway lines have stations near the Morse Building, and Spruce Street Elementary is a few steps away.

Eliza Theiss, Mar 19, 2026 Cheaper in the City? Nearly 100 Communities in Suburban NYC Surpass $1M
New Yorkers planning a move to the suburbs increasingly find their options limited, after suburban home values shot up twice as fast as NYC medians over the last decade. While larger homes and better prices were long the norm outside the five boroughs, today, many NYC buyers find their option restricted to a handful of suburban markets.
