Building Description

Architect I.M. Pei is known for creative, serene elegance, and The Centurion is a great example. A collaboration with his son, they designed one of the most notable residential buildings in Manhattan. Its cascading facade made of hand cut Chamesson limestone imported from Burgundy, France. This limestone is a soft beige color with brown veining and differs from most limestone details in neighboring buildings. Also, the exterior features a series of angled setbacks in the building's front. Interspersed among these setbacks are five protruding blocks that Pei describes as "lanterns". Inside the sophisticated lobby hang original art works by Alex Katz.

Located a few steps from Fifth Avenue, The Centurion is hidden near the finest shopping and dining. Top brands like Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Versace, and Armani have stores nearby. Personal services are abundant starting with Mizu Salon, Bliss Spa, and Euphone Cosmetics. Tenants can dine out at Le Cirque, Jojo, or Tao Uptown. Centurion residents have excellent access to public transportation with 4 subway lines stopping in the vicinity on the yellow and orange lines. PS 111 Adolph S. Ochs is zoned for the area and the Geneva School of Manhattan offers a private alternative just one block away.
