Other subway lines that run through the East Village include: • The N and R trains at 8th Street NYU Station. • The L train gets you to Williamsburg or Greenwich Village and stops at the 3rd Avenue and 1st Avenue stations. • The B, D, F, and M run along the southern edge of the East Village and stop at the Broadway-Lafayette station. You can also catch the F train at the 2nd Avenue station. • Union Square is just outside of the East Village and offers numerous subway lines: the 4, 5, 6, N, Q, R, and L.

The East Village is home to 23 primary and secondary schools and the public schools are part of the New York City Geographic District #1. The Manhattan Charter School is also close but has lower ratings than NYC Geographic District #1. The highest rated school in the area is the East Village Community School.
