Building Description

Located on the Upper West Side, The Apthorp Condominium was named after one of the land's first tenants - the Apthorp Farm. The building was designed by Clinton & Russell, and follows an Italian Renaissance style and features a cobblestone driveway and interior courtyard. Home to 163 apartments and rising 12 floors, the building was completed in 1908. It made history by 1969 as it was named a "New York City Landmark". By 1978, The Apthorp was added to "The National Register of Historic Places". Celebrities such as Conan O'Brien, Cyndi Lauper and Rosie O'Donnell have all called The Apthorp home and have enjoyed its gardens and fountains.

Among the building's extensive list of amenities is a resident manager, full-service garage, a roof deck, and four lobbies - each with a doorman. Active residents enjoy the nearby jogging and biking paths in Riverside Park. Tenants have access to public transportation right outside the building, with the 1-2 lines station at 79th Street. The Apthorp is situated near the American Museum of Natural History and the Rose Center for Earth and Space. Local schools include PS 452 and PS 87, MS 245 The Computer School and the private Collegiate School. Traditional Italian pizza at Serafina and sweet treats at Mille-feuille Bakery await hungry residents.
