Top Most Expensive Homes Sold in L.A. County in 2016
BY Andra Rus | Dec 21, 2016
This Year, the $100-Million Home Sale Finally Happened in L.A. County
2016 brought the biggest home sale ever recorded on the L.A. market, hitting the $100 million mark. What’s more, two different homes traded for this amount, sharing the top spot on our list of most expensive homes.
The first $100-million sale on our list is the famous Playboy Mansion in Holmby Hills, bought by Daren Metropoulos through Mapleton Manor LLC in August 2016. Hugh Hefner, the current owner, retained the right to live in the residence for the remainder of his life, as reported by the LA Times.
It’s not uncommon for homes in L.A. to appear in lists of most expensive US homes on the market, with jaw-dropping asking prices. This is also the case with the other $100-million home sale on our list, the spec house at 301 N Carolwood Drive, which ranked second in the top 10 most expensive US homes on the market back in August. The final sale price fell short of the $150 million asking price, but still earned this property a place at the top of our list.
The other properties that made the 2016 top home sales list are located mainly in Beverly Hills and Bel Air, with Malibu and Pacific Palisades each making an appearance. The sale of Tom Cruise’s home on Calle Vista Drive takes the 5th position with a price of $38 million.
Check out the top 10 in the table below:
