Building Description

Once owned by `Twas the Night Before Christmas author Clement Clark Moore, the block bounded by 23rd and 24th streets and Ninth and Tenth avenues was developed by real estate magnate Henry Mandel. Designed by architectural firm Farrar & Watmough, the 14-building project was built in two phases and became the world's largest apartment complex upon its 1934 completion. In 1948, the project's 959-unit phase one at 410 West 24 Street was purchased and renamed London Terrace Gardens. Totaling 950,200 square feet, the 10-building property features 921 residential units and 38 commercial units. Of this, 4,000 square feet are occupied by offices, and there's 35,200 square feet of garage space as well, totaling 185 parking spaces.

Located in School District 2, 410 West 24 Street is zoned for P.S. 33 Chelsea Prep, but other public options in the area include Ballet Tech ? The NYC Public School for Dance, Quest to Learn, and Landmark High School. Private options include the Ramaz Lower School, and Avenues: The World School.
