London Terrace Towers is a 19-story, 702-unit residential condo located in West Chelsea on Manhattan Island. Construction began on it in 1930 and was completed in 1932. The design was done by Farrar & Watmough. It was the largest apartment building in the world at the time of its construction, and cost more than $25 million in 1930 dollars. Amenities include an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a full-time doorman, and an elevator. Cats and dogs are welcome to join their owners.
The name comes from a series of 80 houses on the site that looked like the flats located in London around the same time. It has sheltered some famous residents, including luminary photographer Annie Leibovitz, and "First Daughter" Chelsea Clinton. London Terrace Towers are within one-third of a mile of the 23rd Street subway station and also just half a mile from the Penn Railroad Station. The closest school, PS 33 Chelsea Prep, is one-third of a mile away.
