Building Description

Unique touches at 253 West 73rd Street extend beyond its exotic Neo-Romanesque appearance. The 19-story brick and stone tower was constructed by the Freemasons as a clubhouse in 1927. The architectural firm of Clinton Russell Wells Holton & George liberally decorated the irregular facade with Masonic symbols and biblical references. The Masons lost the mortgage to 253 West 73rd Street during the Great Depression and for 50 years the building was variously used as a hotel and drug rehabilitation center before emerging in 1984 as a luxury condominium under the name Level Club.

Inside 253 West 73rd Street its fraternal origins have yielded unique floorplans, complemented by modern conveniences. Private elevators and wrought iron staircases convey residents through the building. Most of the 144 units are oriented towards views of the Hudson River and the George Washington Bridge. Full-time doorman and concierge services are available, and the Upper West Side location is convenient to major subway lines, as well as Central Park.
