Building Description

The Chanin Building is a brick and terra cotta skyscraper built in 1928. It is located in the Central Midtown. It is 56 stories high and was built by Irwin Chanin in 1929. In 1978, the building was designated a New York City landmark and in 1980 the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Like a few other buildings of its era, the Chanin Building was designed in the Art Deco style.

It is a commercial office and retail building, housing 812,763 square feet of office space and 41,913 square feet of retail space. Beautiful and historic Grand Central Station is one block away from the Chanin Building, as is the Chrysler Building. The nearest subway station is only 90 feet away and has access to the 4-5-6-6 Express-7-7 Express-S subway lines. Cipriani Restaurant is nearby, as well as many coffee shops, including Starbucks.
