Building Description

This Central Midtown condominium is prized as one of the most elegant apartment hotel buildings in the city. Luxurious and prestigiously flagged multi-million dollar residences range from one to three bedrooms. Since its birth, the Ritz Tower has attracted famous guests and residents including Greta Garbo, author Neil Simon, who has purchased several units in the building, actress Marion Davies, and her publisher lover, and co-developer of the Ritz Tower William Hearst. Designed by Emery Roth and Thomas Hastings, the Ritz is said to have tripled the height of residential buildings in the area when it was constructed.

Although always a magnet for celebrities and the affluent, the original concept was converted to a co-operative in the 1940s. It was built in 1925, and honored as an official NYC landmark in late 2002. Amenities include valet service, a fitness center, maid and concierge service, doorman, and room service with a respectable menu complete with steak. Close to numerous bus and subway stations on Lexington Ave., it's connected with most green line buses and green and yellow line trains.
