Here are the top 3 single- and two-family homes in New York City sold in May 2011. You can click on the photos for more details on the properties.
The major brokerages in New York just published their quarterly market reports on the state of the Manhattan real estate market. PropertyShark has put together an interactive map, accompanying the quarterly market report of the Corcoran Group, which displays closed apartment sales in Q4 2010.
On the map, the size of the circle indicates the number of sales in the building and the color indicates the price per square foot. You can click on a building parcel on the map to see a mini pop-up report which displays details about sold units in that building.
We looked at single-family homes, condo and coop units that sold in Manhattan during Q1 2010 and compared them with the current for sale inventory. From the chart it can be seen that the highest absorption rate is on the Upper West Side (48%), followed by Chelsea & Flatiron (34%) and by the Upper East Side (31%). Harlem, with 13%, has the lowest rate.

We examined Manhattan residential for sale listings that hit the market in the last year that are still listed, and identified the top 3 properties with the largest total dollar price drop during the past week. We found out that in 2009 through mid November there were 211 condo, coop, single family homes sold in Manhattan with a closed sale price of at least $5 million. Check out our new interactive map that plots all those properties.
This wonderful masterpiece at 240 Centre Street in Little Italy was designed by the world renowned architect Charles Gwathmey “within the former gymnasium of the original 1905 Beaux Arts Police Headquarters Building”. The top price cuts this week for Manhattan residential properties included some truly amazing homes. The largest cut from the week was 16 West 12th Street, cut from $24,975,000 to 19,500,000. It’s a townhouse that was “home to such notables as Malcolm Forbes, Jimi Hendrix, and Edna St. Vincent Millay”
