Property Tax

The Texas Tax Code represents the main legal document regarding taxation in the State of Texas. Property taxes are determined at local levels, being used for paying services such as schools, hospitals, colleges and others.

Market Values

The Lubbock Central Appraisal District determines the appraised values, also known as market values, for all taxable real property in Lubbock County. Properties are reappraised at least once every three years, but they can be reappraised as often as every year if the market is active in that area.
Market value has been defined by The Supreme Court as the sale price of real estate as agreed upon between a willing buyer and willing seller, with neither being under duress to buy or sell.

Land value $47,480
Improvement value + $806,200
Market value = $853,680

Assessed Values

Assessed value represent the foundation upon which taxing authorities determine the amount of real estate taxes to be paid. Currently, in Texas, properties are assessed at 100% of their market values but Agricultural and Timber Use Value and other factors, such as the homestead cap value in the case of residential homesteads, may reduce this.

Assessed value = $853,680

Property Tax

The property tax in Lubbock County is calculated by multiplying the taxable value with the corresponding tax rates and in this case is an estimate of what an owner NOT benefiting from tax exemptions or deductions would pay.
Nevertheless, actual taxes might differ from the figures displayed here due to various abatement and financial assistance programs.
