The closing of apartment 6A at 1100 Park Avenue for $8.05 million marked the highest price ever paid for an apartment in the 18-story pre-war coop building.

The buyers are Gail Pisano and Joseph Gromek, the latter identified by Bloomberg as the CEO of Warnaco Group Inc., the apparel company.
According to the listing description at Warburg Realty, the apartment features 10 rooms, 4 bedrooms, a library, two wood-burning fireplaces and a maid’s room. Our records show the apartment was listed in March 2010 for an asking price of $8,990,000.
In the past 6 years, 18 apartments have sold in the building for a median sale price of $4,758,255. Prior to this sale, $7.5 million was the highest price paid for an apartment at 1100 Park Avenue.
