Bushwick Neighborhood Guide
Voted the 7th coolest neighborhood in the entire world by Vogue Magazine, Bushwick is indeed an ultra-hip neighborhood with dive bars, art galleries, and bodegas seemingly on every corner. More than 90% of the properties in this neighborhood are within ? mile of a park and the housing stock itself is varied and unique. With more than 30 schools and an up-and-coming vibe, it's no wonder that more and more people are moving to this Brooklyn neighborhood.
Architecture and landmarks
Homes in Bushwick are found in an eclectic array of styles including brownstones, shiny new condos, converted lofts, limestone buildings, and six-family apartment buildings. The median age of residential buildings is more than 75 years old and more than 97% of buildings are within half a mile of the subway. No matter where you are within the neighborhood, you're likely to have a view of St. Barbara's RC Church, built all the way back in 1910, back when Bushwick was less residential and was primarily known as a beer brewing neighborhood.

Things to do
There's essentially no end of restaurants to try and shops to visit in Bushwick. Foodies looking for something inventive can be found at the communal tables behind the garage door at Momo Sushi Shack, while fine dining can be enjoyed at the selective Blanca. Those in search of a libation would be wise to stop by The Narrows for a cocktail or Alphaville to enjoy some live music while they sip.
Tina's Place may have the oddest hours of any diner in the city (its 3:30 am to 4:00 pm schedule was initially created with factor workers in mind) but it also has some of the best food, if its long history and popularity with the area's artists is any indication.
Shops at the Loom, which is housed in a building that had a former life as a textile factory, is a great place to find quirky, locally made jewelry, clothing, and much more. Art galleries abound in this trendy neighborhood, many of which are located in old warehouses, like The Living Gallery, ODETTA and Microscope Gallery, though art can be found almost anywhere, including in the unique Bushwick Art Park and at the nonprofit gallery NURTUREart. Residents can enjoy a wide range of green spaces, including Maria Hernandez Park, which covers nearly seven acres and includes handball courts, basketball hoops, and numerous playgrounds.
