Netflix Continues Hollywood Expansion at KRC’s Academy on Vine

Netflix continues its expansion in Hollywood, signing a lease with Kilroy Realty Corp. for the entire 355,000 square feet of Los Angeles office space at Academy on Vine. The world’s leading content-streaming company is set to occupy all three office buildings currently being built on the property.

The Academy on Vine is a mixed-use project, consisting of an office component, to be completed mid-2020, a 193-unit, 20-story residential tower, on which Kilroy plans to begin construction later this year, and 13,000 square feet of retail space. The property, which spans 3.5 acres, an entire city block at 1341 Vine Street, is expected to receive a LEED-Gold certification. The buildings will feature creative office space, as well as large public gathering areas displaying public art.

“We are excited to have forged a partnership with Netflix, which has leased all of the office buildings at Academy on Vine, a site rich with history and a legacy of advancing the arts and sciences of motion pictures. On behalf of the team, we are thrilled to welcome Netflix to the Kilroy community,” said Delmar Nehrenberg, KRC’s Senior Vice President, Los Angeles.

Last month, Netflix inked another lease at the Sunset Bronson Studios lot, for the 328,000-square-foot, 13-story EPIC building, set for completion in 2020. The company also leases the entire 14-story ICON building, as well as 92,000 square feet in the CUE building there, according to the Commercial Observer. Netflix’s corporate headquarters is located in Los Gatos, Calif., at 100 Winchester Circle.
